Clean Your Microwave with Steam and Vinegar
Does your microwave have caked on food splatters on the sides and ceiling? Soften them by putting a measuring cup or bowl of water in the microwave and boiling the water for three minutes.
The steam will do wonders. Then wipe down the inside with a cloth moistened with a solution of white vinegar and warm water. Use glass cleaner for the door and keypad to reduce streaks.

No, not for your clothes, but for your lampshades and your dirty window screens. Simply roll over them to collect the dust and then dispose of the sheets.

Fight Grease on Stoves and Range Hoods with Grease
When a thin layer of grease accumulates, dust particles get trapped in it, and soon you have that brownish-red film on your range hood. Yuck. Cleaning with water or soapy water solution often just smears the dirt around and creates sticky, greasy streaks.
One of the easiest ways to clean it lickety-split is to use oil you have in your kitchen (canola, vegetable, olive, etc.) and pour some onto a paper towel or rag. Rub the oil over the range hood to remove the greasy kitchen dust and leave a nice shine.
Don’t Forget the Kitchen Sink
Your kitchen sink is one of the dirtiest places in your home. Pour one cup of baking soda and two cups of white vinegar down your drain. Wait five minutes then flush with boiling water (the water from your microwave steam-clean, perhaps?).
Citrus and Salt for Hard Water Stains
Cut an orange or grapefruit in half and liberally spoon coarse kosher salt on the cut side, pushing it down into the fruit flesh. Grip the rind and use the fruit like you would a sponge. It works great on hard water stains and sinks in general. You’ll be amazed at its success.
Sock It To Your Dirty Blinds with Vinegar
Put an old sock on your hand like a mitten. Spray your blinds with your vinegar/water solution and then wipe down the slats with your sock-covered hand. Presto!
Banish Soap Scum in Your Tub without Scrubbing
Get an empty spray bottle and mix equal parts of ordinary dish soap and warm white vinegar (warm it in the microwave). Spray the solution liberally on your tub. Wait 30 minutes (go deep clean something else or just enjoy a quick break). Then wipe down with a wet cloth.
Shower Curtain Cleaning
Wash your vinyl shower curtain liner in the washing machine on cold with one cup bleach to remove mildew and soap scum. Remove and rehang to dry. If your cloth shower curtain is washable, then put it through the washing machine separately on a delicate cycle.
Pay attention to whether it can go in the dryer or needs to drip dry.
Banish Mildew and Scum on Tile Grout
Tile grout and bathtub caulk can accumulate mildew and soap scum, even if you’re wiping it down daily. Here’s a deep cleaning tip to get rid of that scummy film. Mix one part bleach to 10 parts water in your handy spray bottle.
Liberally soak the mold and mildew on the tile and shower floor. Let the solution sit for five minutes or more. Scrub the caulk or grout with your toothbrush or scrub brush and then wipe clean with a wet cloth.
Cleaning Your Oven
Self-cleaning ovens aren’t quite as good as they sound. The process takes a long time, uses a lot of electricity and doesn’t smell great. To top it off, when you open the oven after the cycle finally finishes, you often find that the oven isn’t actually clean even after you wipe it down.
There are two ways to get at this deep cleaning job:
Method #1: Create a mixture of 4 tsp baking soda, 5 tsp vinegar, and a few drops of dish soap. Mix into a sudsy paste, apply to the stains in your oven, and wait a few hours. Scrub clean with your toothbrush or scrub brush, then wipe with a damp cloth.
Method #2: Mix one cup baking soda and a teaspoon of water in a small bowl. Continue adding water, a teaspoon at a time, until you get a thick paste. Spread this paste over all interior surfaces of the oven. Let it sit overnight or at least 12 hours. Spray vinegar liberally over the baking soda areas, and wipe away with a damp sponge or rag. You may need to use your toothbrush or scrub brush for stubborn stains or heavy baked-on spills. Wipe the entire oven down with a damp cloth.
